Electrical Power Engineering

Electrical Power Engineering

This laboratory is focused on the topic of the generation, the distribution and the utilization of the electrical energy, used for both industry and domestic applications.
The trainer is composed of a set of modules for the simulation of the various subsystems forming a complete electrical power system, from power generation to energy utilization.

It can be subdivided into four major study areas:

  • Power Generation
  • Power Transmission and Distribution
  • Protection Techniques
  • Energy Utilization

Products Details

Power Generation

The conversion of energy available in different forms in nature into electrical energy is known as generation of electrical energy. The most popular and potential resources, for generating electrical energy, are divided into conventional and non-conventional methods..

Power Distribution

Electricity is generated at power plants and transmitted to different substations from where it will be distributed to individual customers. The interconnected lines, which facilitate this movement, are known as a transmission network. This is distinct from the local wiring between...

Protection Techniques

Protection techniques play a fundamental role in guaranteeing the integrity and safe operation of any electrical energy system. The first protection systems were based on electromechanical devices employing movable parts and in a later period of development, solid-state based...

Energy Utilization

At generating stations, the power is generated at the best locations and the load centers are generally away from these. Generation units and loads are connected by transmission systems. Thus, the energy is divided into two main parts, utility (including sources and transmission network)...

Power engineering modules

Electrical power engineering laboratory is used in studies of technological systems and its modules can be decomposed into a number of components that can be mixed and matched into a variety of configurations. The components are able to connect, interact in some way...

Wind Power Plant

Wind turbines or aerogenerators transform the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy (carried out by an electric generator) with no use of fuel and passing through the phase of conversion into mechanical rotation energy carried out by the blades....

Smart grid

The “Grid”, refers to the electric grid, a network of transmission lines, substations, transformers and more that deliver electricity from the power plants to home or business. The digital technology that allows for two-way communication between the utility and its customers...

Scope acquisition

The scope acquisition module, suggested in Electrical Power Engineering laboratory, allows to develop advanced and precise measurement solutions in short times. It provides the user the possibility to perform and to monitor the most important variables regarding the system under test...
